The Story Of Matthew 17:20
Jesus goes up a mountain with Peter, James, and John. A man comes to them with his child who is possesed by a demon.
The disciples try but can't heal the child (because they do not have enough faith).
The father asks Jesus for help and Jesus heals the child. The disciples asks Jesus why they could not heal the child, and jesus responds:
"Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you."
Jesus uses the mustard seed to illustrate the kind of faith we need because the tiny mustard seed grows into something much, Much, MUCH bigger than its original size
So, the lesson from Matthew 17:20 is that we can do nothing without faith.
To follow Jesus and do His work, we need to trust in Him, not just ourselves.
When we have faith in Jesus, we can overcome challenges with His help.
